Additional learning support
At Narwee Public School, we recognise that every child learns differently. We provide a range of personalised learning and support opportunities to ensure every student can access the curriculum, experience success and reach their potential. Our Learning and Support team helps a wide range of student with Personalised Learning and Support needs. Our staff will work with you to identify your child's educational needs and determine how the school will provide adjustments and support to meet them.
Planning at our school may be referred to as:
Personalised Learning and Support Plans
Where required, students are supported through Personalised Learning and Support Plans (PLSPs). These plans identify individual learning strengths, needs and goals and outline targeted strategies and adjustments to support progress. Plans are developed collaboratively with students, families and staff and are regularly reviewed to ensure support remains responsive.
Personalised Learning Pathways
We work with our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and their families to develop personalised learning pathways that recognise their individual strengths, interests, learning needs and cultural aspirations. This approach helps students understand their learning goals, build confidence and take increasing ownership of their progress.
Supporting Every Learner
We support student learning in many ways, both within the classroom and through targeted programs. Our teachers work collaboratively with support staff to identify barriers to learning and implement strategies that enable students to participate, engage and achieve.
Curriculum Adjustments and Modifications
Teachers provide adjustments and modifications where appropriate to ensure students can access learning in meaningful and achievable ways. These may include differentiated tasks, adjusted learning goals, additional scaffolding, explicit instruction, assistive resources and alternative ways for students to demonstrate their learning.
Small Group Learning Programs
Targeted small group programs provide additional opportunities for students to develop specific skills and consolidate classroom learning. Programs are informed by student learning data and may focus on areas such as literacy, numeracy, social skills, communication, learning behaviours and executive functioning.
At Narwee Public School, our goal is to ensure every student is known, valued and supported, with the right opportunities and strategies to help them thrive.
Allied Health Support
We recognise that supporting a child’s learning and development is a partnership between school, families and external professionals. Narwee Public School supports families by providing direct access to Allied Health services on site, making it easier for students to access targeted intervention within a familiar school environment.
Through our partnership with Bambini Speech and Occupational Therapy, students can access speech and occupational therapy services on site every Thursday.
Depending on your child’s circumstances, services may be accessed through parent payment, NDIS funding or a GP referral. This provides families with greater flexibility and enables students to receive targeted intervention while continuing to participate in their school learning.
Our aim is to work collaboratively with families and Allied Health professionals to support each child’s communication, learning, participation, independence and wellbeing.
