Wellbeing
School Values
At Narwee Public School, our school-wide values of Safe, Respectful and Active Learner are embedded in all aspects of school life.
We foster a positive and inclusive learning environment where students feel safe, show respect for themselves and others and actively engage in their learning.
Through these shared values, students develop the skills, confidence and responsibility needed to thrive academically, socially and emotionally, both at school and beyond.
These values are prominently displayed in all learning spaces and playgrounds, providing consistent expectations across all settings.
How we support student wellbeing
Our school learning and support team is focused on collaborating with students, staff, parents and cares to support student’s mental, emotional, social and physical wellbeing.
We do this through:
-
teachers who help students feel welcome and included
-
access to school psychologists
-
programs that support health, social skills, attendance and positive behaviour
-
help for students who are new or changing year levels
-
clear expectations for behaviour and respectful relationships
-
staff who get to know each child and work closely with families
-
developing health care plans for students
-
open communication about wellbeing and support.
-
designated wellbeing weeks and activities
School merit system
Students can earn merit awards and keep them throughout their years at our school. The system starts as soon as your child enters Narwee Public School, usually in Kindergarten, and continues until they leave at the end of Year 6.
Students hand their awards to their class teacher. All awards are recorded on a master sheet and are dated and signed. Students are rewarded with their Merits during school assembly.
Parents are encouraged to help their child value these awards by keeping them in a safe place.
