At Narwee Public School, we provide a rich and engaging learning program aligned to the NSW Curriculum, ensuring every student develops the knowledge, skills and understanding they need to thrive as successful, confident learners. Our teachers use explicit teaching practices across all classrooms and key learning areas. Learning Intentions and Success Criteria make learning clear for student, while teachers model new concepts, provide guided practice and check for understanding at various points throughout the lesson delivery. In every classroom, teachers provide timely feedback to support every student to make progress.
Our School Excellence Plan has a strong focus on strengthening explicit teaching and effective feedback practices. We are building student capacity to understand what they are learning, why they are learning it and how they can improve. Through clear instruction, purposeful feedback and opportunities for reflection, students are increasingly able to monitor their own learning, set goals and make informed decisions about their next steps in their learning journey.

At Narwee Public School, our teaching and learning programs are aligned with the NESA K–6 curriculum and provide students with a strong foundation across all Key Learning Areas (KLAs). Our curriculum is designed to develop knowledgeable, capable and curious learners who can apply their learning in meaningful and practical ways through:

In addition to the mandatory KLAs, we complement classroom learning through a range of specialist and enrichment programs that broaden students’ experiences and provide opportunities to develop skills, creativity and deeper understanding. Our additional program offerings include:
Library
Our weekly Library program supports students to develop a love of reading, research and information literacy. Learning is connected to classroom programs, with students using literature and resources to deepen their understanding of History and Geography and further explore literature, Aboriginal histories, cultures and connections to country, while developing the skills to locate, evaluate and communicate information.
Music
Our weekly Music program is led by our qualified Music teacher, Mrs Weedon. Students develop their knowledge and understanding of music through singing, movement, listening, performing and composition. They have opportunities to apply their musical knowledge and skills through playing instruments and enrich their music potential through HPGE Creative Arts offerings including Band, Drumming, Dance and Choir.
STEAM, Coding and Robotics
Our STEAM program provides students with opportunities to explore Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Mathematics through hands-on learning. Students develop computational thinking, problem-solving and creativity through coding, robotics, design and inquiry-based activities. They learn to collaborate, test ideas, solve problems and use technology as a tool for learning and innovation.
Together, these programs complement our classroom teaching and provide students with opportunities to connect learning across curriculum areas, apply their knowledge and develop skills for learning, life and the future.
At our school, students can take part in special religious education (SRE). These classes are delivered by approved providers.
When enrolling your child, you’ll be able to choose from the following approved SRE providers offered at our school. Students not attending SRE are given supervised alternative meaningful activities.

Our learning approach
Our school uses explicit teaching. This means we clearly tell students what they are learning, why it is important and how to do it step by step. Explicit teaching helps students understand new ideas by breaking them into smaller parts.

Learning Beyond the Classroom: Excursions & Experiences
At Narwee Public School, we believe learning extends beyond the classroom. Our excursions and educational experiences are carefully selected to complement classroom learning, deepen understanding and provide students with opportunities to connect their learning to the real world.
Through visits to significant places, cultural institutions, environmental spaces and community organisations, students experience learning in authentic contexts and make connections between what they learn at school and the world around them.
Helping students progress
We support every student’s academic progress by:
- checking their progress and giving clear and timely feedback
- setting learning goals with each student
- giving extra help with personalised plans and support from specialist staff
- reporting on each student’s learning progress so parents and carers know how their child is doing
