Sport

Narwee school sports program combines healthy living and learning with a full school sports program. Students develop an understanding of balancing a correct diet with essential exercise. The school sport program encompasses four areas – school sport, fitness skills, Primary School Sports Association (PSSA) competition and school carnivals and special gala days.

Sports

School sport – Sport is held on Friday mornings. The sport activities planned by teachers seek to promote enjoyment, develop fitness and encourage the involvement of students in sport for life. Students are placed into one of four Houses: Currawong (yellow), Kookaburra (red), Kingfisher (green) and Magpie (blue). Students then compete in their House team at annual swimming, athletics and cross country carnivals. Students earn points for their house both at sport and in the classroom. The winning house is awarded a trophy on Presentation Day.

Sports

PSSA Sport – At Narwee Public School all students in Years 3-6 are given the opportunity to be selected for a PSSA team. Teams travel by bus to compete in the local inter-school competition which offers a variety of sports which change according to the season. Some of the sports offered are soccer, netball, basketball, cricket, softball, tee-ball, Aussie Rules, Oz-tag, and touch football. Through this competition students with above average ability are able to excel in these teams and be considered for representative teams at PSSA selection trials.

School Carnivals and Gala Days – Narwee Public School holds its own sport carnivals and participates in all PSSA swimming, cross country and athletic carnivals each year.

Students are further encouraged to excel in sport by attending special gala days arranged by local sport bodies such as St George Dragons and Penshurst Panthers in inter-school competitions. Narwee Public School fully supports their participation in these teams to strengthen their sportsmanship and encourage school pride.
